Havanese Day is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing public awareness around animal welfare, rescue, adoption, and humane advocacy through storytelling, photography, and film.

Inspired by the love of a small dog named Lily, founders Jan Soderquist and Gareth Rockliffe collaborate with shelters, humane societies, and rescue organizations across the country to create meaningful and emotionally impactful work that shines a light on animals in need — and on the extraordinary people working to protect them.

Through compassion, education, and storytelling, Havanese Day hopes to inspire empathy, encourage action, and help create a better future for vulnerable animals everywhere.

Ha·va·nese  :  A Bichon/Maltese type breed with a rounded face, floppy ears, and either curly or straight long hair. The National Dog of Cuba, a Havanese is a gentle, happy pup that loves children, other dogs… and even cats!

As dedicated photographers and video producers, my husband and partner, Gareth, and I believe our highest contribution to animal rescue work lies in meaningful collaboration with shelters and animal rescue organizations across the country.

By sharing our passion, expertise, and professional services, we help amplify their voices and support their mission to save lives. Whether that’s shutting down puppy mills, ending dog fighting, or addressing any other act of cruelty towards animals, our goal is to join forces with like-minded people in creating high impact and lasting change.

Meet the Pack and learn more about them and their mission.

This project has been evolving in me for a few years now, and couldn’t be dearer to my heart. It is both my passion, and my purpose in life.
